UPS Simple Rates are an alternative rating system for US domestic shipments by which the package is charged a flat rate according to size of the box to be shipped, regardless of its weight (up to a limit of 1 cubic foot and 50 lbs, which is the maximum weight allowed for Simple Rate shipments). Unlike the situation for some other carriers, these flat rates do not demand that you pack the order in carrier-specific packaging; you can use your own packaging.

UPS Simple Rates apply to packages of five size categories:

• Extra Small (1 to 100 cubic inches)
• Small (101 to 250 cubic inches)
• Medium (251 to 650 cubic inches)
• Large (651 to 1050 cubic inches)
• Extra Large (1051 to 1728 cubic inches)

If you want Boxify to evaluate UPS Simple Rates (in addition to the regular UPS rates it determines), check the checkbox marked, "Display UPS Simple Rates" on the screen you use to configure UPS. (Click on the button marked,"Configure UPS" on the Boxify dashboard.)

In determining UPS Simple Rates, Boxify will consider only those boxes you have set up that are small enough to qualify for UPS Simple Rates and do not have any dimension that would incur oversize fees, and it will limit their maximum weight to 50 lbs. For those services for which Simple Rates are available (UPS Ground, UPS 3 Day Select, UPS 2nd Day Air, and UPS Next Day Air Saver), Boxify will compare the UPS Simple Rate with the regular UPS rate and provide the value for whichever is the cheaper strategy.

If you are using Shopify to purchase your UPS labels during order fulfillment (a process for which Boxify is not involved), be aware that Shopify's discounting structure with UPS doesn't include an equivalent to UPS Simple Rates. So be cautious about using this feature, which could result in your offering shipping rates that are lower than what it would cost to purchase the needed UPS label if you are unable to purchase that label at UPS Simple Rates.
