FedEx SmartPost


FedEx SmartPost is a service that combines both FedEx and USPS. FedEx transports the package most of the way to its destination, but USPS provides “last mile” delivery.

To ship by SmartPost, you must arrange first with FedEx to enable it with your FedEx account. After you have done that, you can show SmartPost rates to customers with Boxify. Simply click on the button marked, "Configure FedEx,” fill in your SmartPost Hub ID (which FedEx should have provided to you), and save with the green “Save and Activate FedEx” button.

Note that “FedEx SmartPost” really refers to four different services:

  • FedEx SmartPost® (by oz. 1–16)
  • FedEx SmartPost® (by lb.)
  • FedEx SmartPost® Bound Printed Matter
  • FedEx SmartPost® Media

Boxify’s support for SmartPost is restricted to the first and second of these services. That is, Boxify doesn't provide special SmartPost rates for bound printed matter or other media.

FedEx is in the process of renaming this service to "Ground Economy." FedEx's rating API still uses the name "SmartPost," though, so for the time being Boxify does the same.
